It’s been nine months since I last updated this blog. I could have had a baby in that time! … Yeah. No, not gonna happen.
It’s had to tell if things have changed or not. At least with Christian. He’s removed himself from all of his medications and is actually learning how to cope with his different issues in his own way. We still struggle to deal with some of the behavioral problems that he has, as well as his reliance on using excuses for his actions (or inactions).
Actually, now that I think about it, quite a bit has changed. And not just with Christian. Dakota and Jordan have both been put through their own developmental paces.
Dakota has been busy with moving through the ranks of scouting; if all goes according to plan–and he actually stays on track–he’ll qualify for Eagle Scout next year. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll advance to the rank of Eagle Scout, merely that he’ll qualify. He still has some work to do to earn the rank.
Dakota’s only other real interest is still video games. He spends hours playing games like Minecraft and Oblivion.
Jordan has lived up to the hype of a typical teenage girl: she’s moved on from most of the pop music, boy bands to classic rock. Now she enjoys Pink Floyd and AC/DC with a splash of One Direction. Let me tell you, if she starts listening to Grateful Dead we’re going to have a have a very long talk.
She lives and dies on her laptop, running through a love-hate relationship with social networking.
This year is going to be a bit different. At least for me. All three of the kids are in high school. I’m not exactly sure how or when they grew up, but suffice it to say that they are not the children I remember from yester … year.
Just as an aside, how is it possible to get detention the very first day of school? *sigh* Oh, Jordan.
